Welcome to our guest speaker Rob Molhoek MP, State Member for Southport.
Rob has an extensive range of not-for-profit board experience that he will share with the members of the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport on Friday 24th January 2025.

Elected in 2012, his previous public service includes roles as;
- Assistant Minister for Child Safety.
- Assistant Minister for Planning & Development.
- Shadow Minister for Housing & Public Works.
- Gold Coast City Councilor & Chair of Finance & Internal Services.
- Deputy Chair of Transportation, Public Works and Utilities Committees.
- Chief Opposition Whip.
- Deputy Chair of the Queensland Parliamentary Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee.
- Assistant Shadow Minister for Families, Seniors, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Treatment.
- Co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of First Nations.
Rob and his family grew up in Southport. They love the Gold Coast. He has four sons, and two grandchildren. They love spending time at the beach, in the surf, at the footy and jet-skiing around the Broadwater.
Rob’s first job was packing bread roles after school at Gold Coast Bakeries.
He was a foundation student at Keebra Park State High School. He spent the first ten years of his working life at Woolies. Today he is an accomplished executive with local and international experiences in small business and the corporate world. Rob has been a broadcaster, retail manager, wholesale manufacturer, barista, and pizza maker.
Prior to entering politics he was General Manager of Sea FM Limited. Outside of work Rob has an extensive range of not-for-profit board experience. He was a founding director and investor in the Gold Coast NRL Titans, founding Chairman of the Gold Coast Community Fund and has been serving as a director of Bravehearts the charity committed to protecting our kids from Child Sexual Abuse since 2006. He continues to be an ambassador and fundraiser for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, which raises money to help provide accommodation and services to the homeless. He is also a strong advocate and champion of Southport based Domestic Violence support services.
Rob has worked hard to deliver so many local and community projects including the redevelopment of the Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, and the revitalisation of the Southport CBD. Since his election in 2012 he has worked hard to deliver vital road upgrades to Smith St, Olsen Ave, Ferry Rd, High St, Ross St, and Bundall Rd along with significant improvements to public transport including the Gold Coast Light Rail and improved car-parking in Southport and at the Parkwood Light Rail station.
